Cue point

In short

A saved marker inside a track that lets you jump exactly there.

A cue point is a marker saved inside a track: an exact position the player can jump to without you hunting for it. Hot cues are several of those points, assigned to buttons.

They are used to come in where it suits you rather than where the file begins. The start of a build-up, the kick returning after a breakdown, the beginning of a block so the phrasing works: marking them is the difference between entering where you meant to and entering where you landed.

Marking them well takes time, and that work is the DJ's, not the software's. Which makes them one of the most expensive pieces of data in a library: a collection with its cue points set represents hours of preparation you do not get back.

Which brings us to what matters most here. When you export a set from a tool back into your program, what must not happen is that this work disappears. EnergyCurve's native export preserves the original entries from your file — hot cues, loops and tags included — and rewrites the order, not the content. It is free on every plan, deliberately: analysing a set and not being able to get it back into the booth is worth nothing.
